Health Services

School Nurse Provides:

• Assistance to medical, dental or mental health care.
• Care for sick of injured students including initial emergency care.
• Help with chronic illness management.
• Administration of medication (or medical procedure) if needed during the school day.
• Advice on how to care for yourself and be an effective health care consumer. 
• Screening for hearing and vision problems and assistance in obtaining glasses. 
• Review of immunization records and recommendations about needed immunizations. 
• Education about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
• Assistance to get sports physicals. 
• Screening and referral for alcohol and other drug concerns. 
• Assistance to pregnant and parenting teens. 

Medication Note:

Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medications
Family-Provided Only: The school office no longer supplies stock pain relievers or other over-the-counter medications. Families must provide their own supply for their child.
Original Packaging Required: All medications must be kept in the school office in their original manufacturer's bottle with the expiration date and label clearly visible. For student safety, medications brought in plastic baggies or unlabeled containers cannot be accepted and will be sent home.

Prescription Medications & Inhalers
Physician Authorization: A signed doctor’s prescription and authorization form must be turned into the school office before any prescription medication or inhaler can be administered. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Pharmacy Labeling: Prescription medication must be in its original pharmacy container, clearly labeled with the student's name, exact dosage, and current expiration date.
Required Documentation: Please keep the Prescription/Non-Prescription Form found in your enrollment packet. A separate, doctor-signed form is required each time a new prescription is introduced or a dosage changes throughout the school year.
